Hello friends of PPL. In these next two weeks I will be finishing up my partnership with PPL. I loved working with these residents as they gained sewing skills. I pray they continue to develop their sewing skills.

To Mani! Thank you for working with me! You are the best!!

Greetings friends!

I'm taking a quick break until January. I have lots of things at home to catch up on as well as sewing for Listening House.

I'm hoping in a couple of weeks, I will have a major anouncement regarding Sew We Work! Please stay tuned!September 29, 2023

Greetings - this week at PPL one student came to class who had sewn in the past and could not remember how. Together we made her a wristlet purse - she was so excited! She ran to a showed her purse to staff! I'm happy for her - and me! I feel as though I'm teaching a personal passionate about sewing!

Greetings sewing people! i hope everyone is doing well. I've kind of been in a funk, however, sewing always brings me right up to joy! I know my go to activity is sewing when i'm blue. How about you? What do you do to attain joy when you are blue?

This past week we had three new students! Egad - i was only ready for two more. How unprofessional! Alberta finished her pj's - actually, she is giving them away to Loretta. I love working with the ladies at PPL - they are generous, loving, giving - and while, we are sewing - they also make confessions! I find that interesting.

One of our new students whom i did not have a machine for, sewed by hand making a little pillow with fringe. This will be quite charming. We just need a little stuffing - I will bring that next week.

Another new student took a pair of partially finished knit pants (from donations) and finished them with an elastic casing and elastic to fit her waist size. She was ecstatic! can life get any better? She modeled them for us and she looked great as we all commented on the various tops she could wear with them.

The final new student sewed a drawstring diddy bag. She had sewn before so she sewed very well and I was very pleased to accept her into the group. She learned how to create French seams - among one of my favorite seams because it leaves no raw edges.

Hello blog readers! Today i start a blog to relate to you adventures in sewing at PPL. These folks are passionate about sewing. Just a little background: Sew We Work provides a sewing machine and accoutrements for each person as well as the lessons. So far we have made:

tote bags with inside hidden zipper

aprons

diddy bags, zippered and draw string

pajama bottoms

cross body cell phone bags

and the list goes on.

Next Tuesday we again make pajama bottoms from flannel. Great fun making those - students will learn measuring their bodies, choosing the correct size pattern for their body, cutting out a pattern, sewing seams, and inserting waste elastic. Oh, also, hemming. I look forward to teaching this class - one thing i enjoy while being there is the chatter that happens between students - lots of encouragement, laughter, support, caring, love.

Thank you Mani for allowing Sew We Work to come to PPL.

This past Tuesday evening was National Night Out - Mani invited me to come and have a table. I did - i brought several samples of items students have made. Two little boys each had a dollar and each wanted a different bag. I asked what they would carry in their bags. They said, "stuff! I will carry my stuff around!"
